Mom brought crayons and paper to keep me quiet during church
services. Today, it always pleases me to paint. I exhilarate in
the creative process; though sometimes I wonder “What am I going to
do with this mess?”
I must create something new and
beautiful each time. Working with multiple canvases for a decade
now, I produce only Polytychs.
-
I begin by combining canvases of
different shapes and studying their composition. I rotate,
flip, cut holes, double up and/or add all kinds of textures IF
it “works” in a vision for each piece.
-
Then I paint!
-
When a painting “tells me” what to
do next, I proceed slowly to never overdo a piece. Then we
rest, and wait, and see...
My Polytychs are best at the moment of
completion; when they whisper “finished” to me.
Then they find
patrons who will listen for the next whisper.
